I.H.C. Training Centre Opened

The Donnelly Training Centre for intellectually handicapped children was officially opened recently by Mrs E. I. Tombleson, M.P.

The centre was named after a former Central School headmaster, Mr W. E. Donnelly, who was responsible for the commencement of the work done by the Gisborne I.H.C. Society 13 years ago.

The building was recently moved from its site on the former Turanganui Golf Links to its present position adjacent to the Intermediate School in Disraeli Street.

At the Centre, children are taught to do simple repetition work for various firms in the city, from which they derive a small income.
