"Welcome" Signs Erected

"Welcome to Gisborne" signs have recently been erected at the eastern and western boundaries of the city, containing the motifs and messages of the following organisations: Greater Gisborne, Rotary, Jaycee, Youth Hostel, and Lions.

Present at the official ceremony marking their erection were Messrs Ray Crosby (City Council), John Burland (P.R.O.), Maurice McIntyre (Greater Gisborne), Ivan Tyerman (Rotary), Stan Elsmore (Youth Hostel), and Doug Kerr (Jaycee).

Painter Noel Rutherford is pictured adding the finishing touches to one of the signs.
