Savages' Opening Night

The Gisborne Savage Club recently held its opening night in the Kaiti Memorial Hall.

The Savage season got under way in grand style with a programme of sketches and musical items by the club's orchestra.

During the evening, the new Rangatira, Mr Pat Ryan, was formally inducted into office.

New scenery, painted by Savage Bill Phipps, graced the stage.

Honorary secretary John Thorburn reading the annual report from a giant hollow book, from which he produced all manner of things.

A satire on the Nazis was performed by Noel Oldridge, John Thorburn (Hitler), and Ian Caie (Goering).
