Poverty Bay Surf Champs

The second day of the Poverty Bay surf life-saving championships was held in poor weather at Waikanae Beach on a recent Sunday afternoon.

Winner of the premier event, the senior six-man rescue and resuscitation, was the Waikanae Club team, which was placed third in the same event at the national championships at Muriwai Beach, Auckland, a week later.

A Midway Surf Club team won the junior four-man rescue and resuscitation event from Waikanae in second and third placings.
