Annual Army Camp

Territorial and National Service soldiers of the Hawkes Bay Regiment, which includes the Gisborne-East Coast district, attended their annual two-week camp at Linton recently.

A feature of the camp was a ceremonial parade held to mark the amalgamation of the H. B. Regiment with the Wellington Regiment to form he new 7th Battalion of the Royal New Zealand Infantry. This, and other reorganisations in the N.Z. Army, will be effected on March 31st.

At the parade, which was attended by the Mayors of Napier and Wellington, the colours of the two regiments were paraded together for the last time.

The training undertaken at the camp include a six-day exercise in the rugged bushclad Tararua Ranges, south of Palmerston North.
