Lambs Get The (Beauty) Treatment

Three pet lambs were recently given the full beauty treatment when they were coloured with women's hair dye for the Wool Board's fashion parade.

In charge of the operation was Auckland sales manager of Beauty Products Ltd, John McCormack, who was ably assisted by John Ashworth, branch manager of the New Zealand Wool Marketing Association, and Mr C. Nepia.

The lambs were first washed in warm detergent water, and then dunked in a drum of hair rinse, to emerge delicate shades of red, grey, and blue.

They were immediately named Pinky, Smoky, and Bluey, New Zealand's first coloured sheep.

Following this came the most difficult task....drying them off with two portable hair dryers, and later, combing out their colourful wool to give them a soft pastel appearance any self-respecting lamb would be proud of.
