"Mad Hatters"

At the Gisborne Business and Professional Women's Club's annual Christmas party at Ulverstone, the feature of the evening was the mad hat parade, in which the contestants were required to parade about attired in the most novel or crazy headwear they could devise.

Winner of the contest was Miss R. Bunt, matron of Cook Hospital, who wore a vegetable grater over the word "Gisborne", and called the creation "Greater Gisborne".
