Centennial Ball at Tokomaru Bay

As part of the celebrations to commemorate the centenary of the St. Mary's Anglican Church, of Tokomaru Bay, a centennial ball was held at which nine debutantes were presented to the Rev. Wheretini Bangi O.B.E.

Included in the official party was Mrs G. W. Dewes, of Norman Road, Gisborne, who is a granddaughter of the first priest of the parish, the Rev. Matiaha Pahewa, who held office from 1863 to 1906.
