Competitions Personalities

At a ceremony in the Opera House at the Gisborne Competitions Society's annual festival, the patron, the Mayor,. Mr H. H. Barker, presented six longstanding members with life membership awards......the first to be given by the society.

The recipients were Mrs J. Nigro, Messrs F. McBreen, F. R. Ball, C. King, J. W. Randle, and D. P. Lee.

Two more awards were made to Mrs L. G. Elliott and Mr C. V. Harre, who were unable to be present at the ceremony.

The four outside Judges were also introduced to the audience. Pictured at right, they are: Mrs J. Coughlan (national dancing), Miss D. Power-Palmer (dancing), Mr H. Brusey, O.B.E. (vocal and instrumental), and Mr D. I. Gandall (speech).
