Here and There
The three local winners of a recent N.A.C. essay competition were, left to right, Gerald Shone, Alan Owen, and John Cornish.
Picture from Mr R. H. Johnson, 54 Ballance street, shows a bulldozer clearing a slip in the Mere Mere hills, on the old road from Motu to the Bay of Plenty coast. It is a long and precipitous route, but a very beautiful one.
Also from Mr Johnson, this pic shows T. Patawai, of Te Araroa, with a 69lb (dressed) hapuka he caught near Cape Runaway, using an 80lb line. It was worth a "fiver". With him is Eric Barbara, also of Te Araroa.
