Anzac Day Service

According to many who were present, the 1955 Anzac Service in Gisborne was one of the most widely representative and largely attended of any yet held. The parade contained over 1000 people, representing 17 organisations, and the public attendance was considerable.

The scene at the War Memorial as trumpeters played "The Last Post". On the war memorial steps is Mr G. Brooke Carter, South African War veteran, who superintends the laying of the wreaths.
