Catholic Debutantes
There were eighteen debutant presented to his Grace, the most Reverend J. M. Liston, D.D., Bishop of Auckland, at the Catholoc Ball held recently in the War Memorial Hall. The hall was beautifull decorated, with massed floral arrangements of soft pink camellia heads, trails of ivy, arum lilies, and coloured foliage. At the foot of the dais colouredfootlights, troughs of fern, intermingled with Pink nerines and chrysanthemums gave a very pleasing effect. On the sort grey background drapes, the words "St. Mary, Star of the Sea" outlined in glitter, had been placed with an iridescent Gothic cross.
After the presentation, the debutantes were joined by their partners, and debutantes' waltz to the music of chaplin's theme from "Limelight", which was played by Mr R. Martin, and then formed a guard of honour for the official party at its conclusion.
