Civic Band

Prior to its trip to Wellington for the National Brass Bands Contest, the Gisborne Civic Band played the test pieces to a small but enthralled audience in the Intermediate School Hall.

Although not successful in the C Grade competition, the band was only nine marks behind the winners. Bandmaster R. Rutherford deserves commendation for his work in bringing the band to competition standards.
