When City Council workmen were cleaning the roadside ditch in lower Aberdeen Road, this was one of the eels they found! This deep ditch crosses the footpath twice (one crossing can be seen in background near the power pole). Recently a lady who had but lately come to live in Gisborne fell into the ditch in the dark.......a hazard of life on the frontier!
