An all Maori inter-denominational cast from Hastings presented a passion play on the Crucifixion to a large audience at Anzac Park on Easter Friday, At top is the actor who played Christ, and centre is the producer, Mrs Mary Clarke.

Mr and Mrs Roily Croskery's four children, of 157 Roebuck Road, have acquitted themselves well in the life-saving field. Dianne, aged 14, has attained her bronze medallion; Kevin, aged 12, has his intermediate certificate; and both Denise, aged 10, and Jeanette, aged six, have their elementary certificates. Jeanette is the youngest person in Gisborne, and probably in the Dominion, to have achieved this.
