Revolutionary Harvester

A revolutionary harvester, which picks and shells the crop in one operation, enabling it to be bulk handled, has been working on the Poverty Bay flats this season. It also spreads the waste evenly over the paddock, allowing the farmer to plough it under immediately.

Owned and driven by Mr Neville Judd, of Patutahi, the machine is the only one of its type in the country, and will cover 10 acres of crops in an eight hour day.

During the summer, the machine is used for harvesting grass seed, barley, wheat, and seed peas, It is pictured picking maize on Mr Beraid Willson's property in the Waingake Valley.
