District Surf Champs

Waikanae, Midway, Wainui, and Gisborne Ladies' surf life-saving clubs competed in the annual district championships which were held in fine weather, but quiet surfing conditions, at Midway Beach recently.

Two presentation reels were competed for: the A.P.A. one for the most individual championship points being won by Waikanae, and the W.D. and H. O. Wills one for the greatest aggregate of points over all events, which was won by Midway.

Waikanae teams won the two major events, the six-man rescue and resuscitation and the four-man alarm. (They also won the fourman alarm at the National championships at Napier a fortnight later).
