Founder's Day Observed

Boys scouts and girl guides in the Gisborne district assembled at the Botanical Gardens on a recent Sunday afternoon to attend the annual Founder's Day ceremony.

Present at the function was the Dominion Director of Training, Mr Jim Hudson, of Wellington, who was guest speaker, and who later presented awards to two scouts and a scoutmaster.

The district commissioner of girl guides, Mrs J. Nugent, and the District Commissioner of Boy Scouts, Mr F. Swindell, taking the salute from the Takitimu Sea Scouts troop during the march past. Leading them are Keith Redstone, Stuart Robertson, and Graham Moore.

Mr Hudson pins the medal of merit on Keith Redstone, the Group Scoutmaster of the Takitimu troop. The medal is awarded for 18 years' service.
