Camp life in the Waikanae Beach motor camp this season may not have been quite as damp as this picture would suggest, but at times "Mr Weatherman" was not as co-operative as he could have been. The picture was taken during one of the southerly storms which hit the beach in January, leaving large puddles and drenched campers in its wake.
A gang of cowpokes who rode into town last month for Home Appliances' Gunsmoke Competition put to use two of Gladstone Road's "one-armed bandits" by using them to support a hitching rail. Cowpokes are, from left: Gary Jones, Heather Braxton, Ivan Braxton, Jennifer Burton, Glyn Jones, and Jackie Stevens.
