Guy Fawkes Celebrations

Fifth of November celebrations of that infamous character, Guy Fawkes, and his gunpowder plot, were again carried out with gusto in Gisborne in the form of a multitude of blazing bonfires, soaring sky-rockets, sparkling fireworks, and banging crackers.

Although the only two organised bonfires were at Wainui Beach and Waikanae Beach, a line of private fires extended around the Bay.
