During a race at a motorcycle scramble meeting which was held over the sand-hills at Pouawa Beach last month, a competitor, Rex Ratcliffe, takes a spill when he veered off the rugged course into a deep hollow. Carrying on his merry way in the foreground is Peter Faulkner.

Canon Poihipi Mokena Kohere, O.B.E., whose death at Rangitukia recently ended a long and colourful association with the Anglican church on the East Coast. Well remembered for his sense of humour, and for the good work he did for his people, Canon Kohere was appointed to the Waiapu pastorate in 1906, retiring 5l½ years later from his position as Canon at St. John's Church, Rangitukia.

Nearing completion, the T and G building on the corner of Gladstone Road and Grey Street has a flag-mast placed in position on its roof by Monk Bros. fully extended mobile crane.

Mr Dave Herman's 35 ft. yacht, Sayonara, which took him and three friends more than three years to build, being lowered into the harbour basin on a recent Saturday morning.
