Steeplechase

On a beautifully fine afternoon last month, hundreds of schoolboys were to be seen running across the hills and valleys at Sponge Bay, competing in the Gisborne Boys High School annual steeplechase.

An obstacle in the rugged course which provided plenty of thrills and spills was the water jump, where a slip of the foot, or a miscalculation in judgment, resulted in a rather dampening experience for those concerned.
