After the trophy presentation, P. Potter, the captain of the under-12-years rep team which went on tour this season, presented their coach, Mr A. Sharples, with a token of appreciation.

A load of canned peas, being transported by the Gisborne Lions Club, for the intellectually handicapped children to make a change of labels, became unsecured and scattered across the road when the truck rounded the Lytton Road-Gladstone Road corner. The Lions, and some obliging residents, are pictured picking up their lost cargo.
