It's A tall, tall World
It's a tall, tall world....or so it must seem to the seven wee men, reaching in height only to the average individual's waist, who were to be seen roving the streets of Gisborne several weeks ago.
The above mentioned septet were, of course, the comical little characters in the visiting show, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was playing to capacity houses in the Opera House at the time.
What the dwarfs lacked in height they made up for with humour, and were a constant source of amusement wherever they went with their playful antics and pranks.
Six of the seven, the shortest of whom is Micky Chapman (Doc) at 3 ft. 4 in., were members of the original London cast, while the other one, Gordon Lavender, is from Christchurch.
