Brown Shield Soccer

Rallying strongly in the second half after being one point down, the Poverty Bay representative soccer eleven scored two thrilling goals to win the Brown Shield northern zone final against Waikato before a crowd of approximately 1000 at the Childers Road Reserve.

The Waikato team included ten of the Hamilton Technical side which won the Chatham Cup prior to this game, but they were slightly overshadowed by superior speed on attack of the home side's players.
