Judo

Partaking in an enjoyable sport, and at the same time equipping themselves with an expert knowledge of self-defence, are the 30-odd members of the Gisborne Judo Club who meet regularly in three classes....for men, boys, and girls.....at the club's rooms in the Poverty Bay Lawn Tennis Association's pavilion in Childers Road.

The club is well qualified to teach its members the art of the throw, as its senior instructor is school teacher Mike Randall, who recently gained his black belt, the highest grading in judo, when he was tested in Wellington by two examiners from the judo headquarters in Kodokam, Japan.
