The Gisborne Photo News

Cover Picture

Cover picture of "Photo News" this month shows New Zealand's most famous New- Zealander, Sir Edmund Hillary, the conqueror of Mount Everest, in conversation with little Ross Beere at the Gisborne Children's Health Camp recently.

Readily accepting an invitation from "Photo News" to visit the camp, Sir Edmund gave the children a red-letter day which they are not likely to forget for a long time, if ever.

Following up his formal opening of the Health Stamp campaign this year, Sir Edmund showed a keen interest in the camp building and facilities, which in Gisborne are of most modern and appropriate design.

But his chief interest was in the children themselves. With his ready smile and easy manner, he was soon firm friends with them all.
