Golf With A Difference
Diggers and Kiwis had a memorable day in October at the annual Returned Services Association golf tournament at the Poverty Bay Golf Club's links.
Luftwaffe types from the Air Force Association were heavily bedecked with ersatz ribbons. Left to right, D. McWha, R. Nield, K. Crompton, T. McMurray, with G. Young in front
Among the many distinguished guests were Adolph Hitler (fuhrer of the Third Reich) and A. H. Barwick (president of the Gisborne R.S.A.)
At the 4th tee, Jack Ferguson (right) pauses for the moment that refreshes with a cheerful Russian P.O.W. (Jack Smith).

At the 8th tee, players were obliged to use this complicated catapult for their tee shot. Player in horizontal position has just sent his ball away.
At the second tee, all hands had to use a tennis recquet. Here John Dymock makes a try for the green.
Enjoying the morning rum issue are B. Knox, secretary for the occasion, and E. Clapham.
