Teams from Auckland, Wellington, Lover Butt, & Christchurch visited Gisborne for the weekend, September 4–6, to compete in relays and gymnastics, etc. This group taken outside the Y.M.C.A. in Fitzherbert Street shows delegates assembled. In centre, seated, is Mr G. F. Briggs, National secretary, and in front of him is Mr R. J. O'Kane, local general secretary. At left are Mr D. Short (Christchurch) and Mr J. Lewis (Wellington), and at right Mr W. Elliott (Auckland) and Mr G. Senior (Hutt Valley). Gisborne competitors kneeling are Brian Johnstone, Dick Glover, John Nalder, Jim Cantlon, Bryan Thompson, and Graham Cooper.

On the same Saturday, the Y. M. Harrier Club conducted its annual rally, when teams were present from Hastings and Napier. Gisborne won all three sections. Successful runners, left to right, were Alan Parkinson (junior), Sam Kernohan (colts), and Tony Weatherley (senior).
