Photo News

Thank you…

Here at "Photo News" we would like to take this opportunity of thanking the general public of Gisborne for the warm welcome accorded our first publication last month.

In particular we want to thank all those good people, most of them complete strangers to us until then, who rang us on the telephone or went out of their way on the street to convey their congratulations and good wishes.

The friendliness of the people of Gisborne to us, their very ready co-operation and desire to help our venture on its way, and the appreciation expressed of our first issue, have gone far to make us feel at home and ensure the success of "Photo News".

Here are extracts from a few of the letters received:

"I must write and congratulate you on such an excellent first publication. It is, indeed quite an innovation for Gisborne to be, I think, the first city in New Zealand to sponsor its own photo magazine."

"...Just to let you know how very interesting we find your publication. We are sure it will be very popular."

"Congratulations on "Photo News". We found it intensely interesting and have already sent it on to our daughter in England."

"Congratulations! The "Photo News" is full of interest and we hope it will do very well."

From a Christchurch reader: "The idea is undoubtedly a sound one. I read every word, and although Gisborne is so far away and of no particular interest to me, I feel I have already learned a great deal from your interesting words and pictures. Please accept my congratulations."

Notice to Subscribers

We regret that we are no longer able to offer subscriptions at our original reduced rate of £1 for 12 issues.

This offer raised many difficulties with the established retail outlets handling "Photo News" and accordingly it has been found necessary to set a uniform rate, regardless of whether delivery is made over the counter, or by arrangement, or by post.

From this date, therefore, subscriptions to "Photo News" will be at the rate of 24/- per 12 issues, either through our subscription agents, the Strand Book Club, 235 Gladstone Road, or through your newsagent.

For the convenience of readers, "Photo News", the popular local picture paper, is now on sale at the following newsagents and depots:

Bushnells, Gladstone Road, Town.
Eastwoods, cr. Gladstone Rd. and Derby St.
Muirs, Gladstone Road, Town.

Photographs

We keep getting requests for copies of the photographs which appear in "Photo News", and also for those photographs which we so often take but do not have room for in these pages. Unfortunately we have neither the time nor the facilities to make these prints, but we have arranged for copies to be available from Kandid Kamera Kraft in Peel Street. This applies, of course, only to photographs taken by us, and is subject to restrictions dictated by professional considerations. Except by special arrangement, proofs and prints will not be available at Kandid Kamera Kraft until after the publication of each issue.
