Headmaster Farewelled

After nine years at the Gisborne Intermediate School, Mr R. McGlashen, the headmaster, left at the end of June to take up the headmastership of the Avondale Intermediate School, Auckland. Mr McGlashen made a deep impression on the people of Gisborne by his personality and the calibre of his work at the school and in the community, and farewell references on all sides were tinned with genuine regret. Above, Mr and Mrs McGlashen are seen saying goodbye to officials of the Intermediate School Committee following a combined Committee and Parent-Teacher Association farewell gathering. From left: Mr H. H. Salmon (committee member representing Mangapapa), Mr A. T. Yarrall (secretary), Mr McGlashen, Mr G. H. Dunn (chairman), Mrs McGlashen, and Mr E. C. Richards (deputy chairman).
