Ernie Lamont of 41 Main Road, Makaraka, was camping and fishing at Tatapouri over the holidays where he caught this too-big-for-comfort shark in a 4 inch gill set net in six feet of water. Here it is in the trailer on the way home to Makaraka. It was eight feet long and weighed 260 lbs.

Seen after entering the inner harbour is Wellington man Bill Goss, who was on his way round the North Island in this 14ft runabout. Bad weather hampered his efforts somewhat before reaching Gisborne.
