No Famine Here

The whole district certainly is not short of produce if these pictures are anything to go by.

First of all we have Ian and Heather Tamblin of 716 Aberdeen Road and David Burgess of 543 Wainui Road who brought in these monstrous scarlet runner beans which measure 16½ and 15 inches in length. They were grown in the prolific Tamblin garden in Aberdeen Road.

Peter Whitehead of Motu with this beaut trout taken from the Motu River. It weighed 8½ lbs and was in tip top condition.

Even the good carrots disappear smartly as Bess the donkey eats her fill. Feeding her is Alan Noel Percy of Hastings, while from left are Kevin Percy, Hastings, Alan Dean Percy, Gisborne, and Mrs Diana Percy, Rutene Road.

Finally, this giant kamikami (marrow to you) is held on to (with some trepidation) by April and Shane Gerrard. They are the children of Mr and Mrs Boy Gerrard, 5 Munro Street. The kamikami was actually grown in Ruatoria by Mr Gerrard's cousin, Mr Tai Houia, on the Brown Estate.
