The Gisborne Business and Professional Women's Club held their annual candle-lighting ceremony in their club room recently. Guest speaker was Miss R. McBride, a senior officer of the Maori Afrairs Department, Wellington, who spoke on "The Challenge of a Changing World in Employment." Those who took part in the official function and candle lighting are Miss E. Hyland, Mrs T. Cleaver, Miss G. E. Clifford-Jones (president), Miss McBride, Mrs P. Cooper, Miss F. Brown, the Mayoress, Mrs H. H. Barker (patroness), Miss D. Ritchie and Mrs F. Taylor.

An entertainer of note at the Penthouse Coffee Lounge recently was singer Nick Villard of Auckland.
Well known on radio and TV, Nick delighted patrons with his performance.
