Nearly 200 members of the Social Credit League attended a dinner in the league rooms to celebrate the election to Parliament of the first Social Credit member (Mr Vernon Cracknell, Hobson), and the increased gain in votes made by the party.
Leading members in attendance are Mrs Cracknell, the new M. P., Vernon Cracknell, secretary - organiser Frank Hollands, Mrs Phin and Gisborne candidate Peter Phin, Mrs T. A. Greenwood, N.Z. national president Frank Needham, Mrs Box and Gisborne branch chairman Alan Box, N.Z. National vice-president T. A. Greenwood and Mrs F. Needham.

Recently on display in the A.N.Z. Bank in Tolaga Bay is this collection of paintings by members of the Tolaga Bay night school art class.
With some of the work, which includes landscapes, portraiture and still life is art master Downey Brown.
