Nelson District Show

For a time it appeared as if the bad weather experienced at the Nelson A. and P. Association's shows in the last few years was going to disrupt this year's show. Heavy showers fell on the first day but these cleared overnight and the second day was beautifully fine. Big crowds took advantage of the pleasant conditions on the second day and a record gate was achieved. Features at this year's show included displays and a concert by the New Zealand Army band, an apple pie baking contest and jiggerboard chops in the show ring, and steer-riding. As usual the side-shows were well patronised by a big section of the crowd.
