Scouting Display

The Scouting movement is growing in popularity each year as more and more boys seek to join its ranks. Unfortunately, in some areas, growth is outstripping the availability of helpers and leaders. To stimulate interest in the movement, various Scouting and Cub groups in the north section of the district staged a display of work and equipment used by them.

Northern district Cub leader, Mrs Mavis Steffens, models a Cub leader's uniform (early 1930s model). Alongside, as a comparison, is Mrs Val Smith, and the 1968 model.

Avion Air Scouts, Paul Davies and Dale Scott, with some exhibits. Iron Duke Scouts, Michael Crawford and Bruce McLennan, try out the Venturers' gear.

Proudly holding the national, premier Sea Scouts' award, won by the Iron Dukes at the last national regatta, is John Steffens.

Cubs on the job: Michael Bowers, Jeremy Cooper and Derek Sherwood.
