Wadsworth's Four Wins Easter Title

The Nelson Bowling Centre's Easter tournament was again well supported by local and visiting players and many of the games finished dramatically. The final, between the four skipped by Bob Wadsworth (Stoke) and that skipped by Arty Emms (Takaka), was no exception. With 17 ends played, Emms held a 5-point lead and on the 18th end seemed assured of one further point. But Wadsworth removed the shot bowl to notch five and the fight was on. Wadsworth remained in front by a narrow margin to win 21-18. The victorious team of Don Carter, Ferris McCarthy, Jim Nalder and Bob Wadsworth is above. Defeated, but still smiling, below, are the Takaka four, Ted Gilbert, Lyall Winter, Gordon Little and Arty Emms. As the game became more tense, so also did the attitudes of Gordon Little (middle) and Lyall Winter.
