Golf and Glamour Grannies at Greenacres

Grannies (one by only two days) came from all over the province to compete in the annual golf tournament for grandmothers at the Greenacres Course, Appleby. The golf went as it shouldsome scored well, some not so good. But who cares? Certainly not the grans. They enjoyed the day, made more memorable by a sort of household beauty contest by members of the Nelson Ladies' Club (you'll see what we mean, shortly.

Other main trophy winners, Mrs Vi Brown (best by gran over 60 and D grade runner-up), Trixie Meyell (C grade gross), and Peg Shields (D grade gross).

Mrs Kath Pulowski won the trophy for best net score with a 68 (no wonder there were cries of "swab her").

This year a great-grandmother (Mrs Elizabeth McMorland) and a grandmother by two days (Mrs Joan McMorland) played in the tournament.

Best A grade gross score was that of Peg Eilery (she also won an unofficial prize and title).

The gran with the oldest grandson was Mrs Gladys Lewis, (the grandson is 31) being presented with her trophy by Mrs McMorland.
