Our Cover

During the baccy and hop-picking season it has become increasingly difficult to capture the more colourful scenes associated with the harvest, because of the disappearance of the once familiar tobacco picking machine and the hop pickers. Today the leaf is gathered in the field and taken to the shed where it's tied by machine and the manual hop picking has also been replaced by an efficient, but colourless machine. So as a reminder of the days that were, we feature a baccy picking machine working in Riwaka, on our front, cover.
