Surveys being made at the moment to give Karamea direct access by road to the Nelson province include the route through Collingwood, West Haven Inlet and Paturau. This pic is of the Patu-rau river bridge, about 200 yds from the river's outlet on the West Coast. The road at right continues to the Tu-ramawiwi River, but lack of a bridge at the Anatori River prevents motorists from travelling further.
