"Book Of The Month"

What happens when a young novelist draws upon characters she knows and writes them into her first novel (a pretty passionate one) is the theme of "Book of the Month", the Nelson Repertory Theatre's last production of the year. Under producer Rene Cotton, the eight-man cast fitted comfortably and smooth-ly into the roles given them. A delightful show, noted particularly for the performances of Joyce Rowland, Carol Peters and Dan Dungan, who gave no hint of his American: accent in his burr-like portrayal of a Scottish doctor. The cast was: Betty Halliday, the young novelist (Karolin Hill); Joanna, her mother (Jean Paynter); Edward Halliday, her father (George Cameron); Aunt Marcia (Joyce Rowland); the Colonel (Howard Mathi-son); MacLure (Dan Dungan); Nicholas Barnes-Bradley (John Holmes); Doris, the maid (Carol Peters).

"Chaos", screams Betty, and chaos it was as each member of the "family" learns of the infidelities of the other, during the second act when they assume their "book" roles.
