A dense pall of black smoke led us to the Tahuna yard of Timber Distributors Ltd, Bolt Road, last month, where we and firemen found a small shed well alight and burning fiercely. The brigade contained the fire within a few minutes and had it doused before it could do any real harm.

Off to the Hutt Park meeting is Jet Stream, who with Thunderboy was sent by Joe Hill by boat to this meeting. Jet Stream has just been enticed into his loose box. But, no joy for Joe (at least not in the Saturday night meeting).

Work is well under way on the construction of a second bulk store tank for bitumen. This tank is being erected alongside the plant of Highways Construction on the reclamation.
