Yachting on Nelson Port

×

A blue sky across which fluffy white clouds drift lazily} the sunlight sparkling on the water and a trim yacht, heeling to a good breeze. What more beautiful sight? And that is what we found during the Aurora Sailing Club's regatta at the beginning of the month. For a time there was little breeze, but it freshened as the morning progressed and in the afternoon the water was quite choppy. This picture, taken from the J. J. Cook, shows Dennis Win's "Oyster" at an acute angle.

During Easter yachts from the Canterbury R-class squadron visited Nelson. Very squally conditions prevailed on the Saturday when these pics were taken. Racing was abandoned after lunch.
