When the Nelson Jaycees' "Natureland" project is completed, some of the birds and a monkey or two now at Richmond will be housed at their new home at Tahunanui. Two of the birds are the peacock (above), and the kea (top right). A monk (at right) will also change homes. Talking of animals, we came upon this bird (bottom right) while walking out of the Maungatapu track. It appeared bigger than the normal run of wekas, but upon further investigation we have been convinced that it was a weka – big though it was.

Another new building brought into use recently is that of legal firm of Fletcher and Moore, in Trafalgar Street.
