Many Nelson streets still retain the old-style kerbing of hardwood laid many years ago, but it is gradually being torn up and concrete kerbing and channels laid in its place. This pic shows new kerbing being laid in Nile Street and the pic below shows a workman, having removed the old wooden kerb, preparing for the kerb extension.

The new Tahuna Post Office, which will replace the old building demolished last year, is being erected on the old site. The temporary building can be seen at rear.
