Tahuna Trees Topple

At Tahunanui, it's a case of "when you gotta go you gotta go. " And, unfortunately, though we all regret seeing the pine plantations which have cooled us in the hot summer sun disappear from the Tahunanui skyline, the trees had to go. Civil Aviation Department standards of safety are rigid ones and when it ruled that the trees were a menace towards aircraft with engine trouble, what else could the council do but comply with these standards. For after all, lives are more precious than trees. The silver lining to the cloud is that this area is to be developed and beautified.
