Hospital Wing At Whareama Opened

The new Hulme-Mair hospital wing at Whareama Home, Stoke, was officially opened by the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) earlier this month. The fine £44,000 building, containing 15 beds and a wing for nurses, will accommodate the aged sick. It adjoins the already extensive home wherein reside the home's well but elderly residents. The building of the home was accomplished by the Church of England which had received a Government subsidy for the work. But, through the efforts of the Lions Club, it became also a community project in that the public contributed towards the furnishings of the building.
