Time Stood Still In Nelson

We take many things for granted, you know. Like the faithful old clock at the post office. So, when one morning the old girl gave up the ghost quite a few puzzled glances at the clock and then at wrist watches were the result. The fault was caused by a break in a section of the escarpment, but it was righted by the staff of Louis Kerr Ltd who has the maintenance contract. But for a whole day Nelson was without a public time service, and it was brought home to many of us just how much we depend on the post office clock.

An adjustment is made by Walter to the mechanism controlling the hands on the southern face
