Slapstick Wrestling

After watching three bouts involving four professional wrestlers at the Y. M. C. A. earlier this month, we feel we should extend our sympathy to the Nelson Wrestling Association for its efforts to provide the sporting public of Nelson with entertainment. We are sure the association must have been as disappointed as the meagre crowd with the farcical fare provided. To be entirely fair, Steve Rickard and Rick Wallace did mix some good wrestling with the pseudo wrestling, but little could be said for the pitiful efforts of Dick Zolnowski and Joe Sokaiski. The tag wrestling, new to Nelson, had its moments, also, but we left with the impression that if the Nelson public is to be drawn to such bouts in the future, then the association will have to look for more polished contestants.

One of the charms of the Motueka Valley during the autumn is that the traveller doesn't know what beauty awaits him around the next bend. At Stanley Brook, however, the traveller approaching this tunnel of golden leaves has a long straight in which to appreciate the beautiful scene.
